with some mutual additions and subtractions (Abdon, Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth). Zecher no doubt is Zechariah; Ner is lacking in chapter 8 as is Mikloth. Elsewhere, Ner is called Saul’s uncle (1 Sam 14:50) and Mikloth has clearly dropped out of 8:31, with the result that each list has exactly nine sons of Jeiel. The fact the two lists do not coincide precisely is most likely attributable to copyist errors in the centuries of text transmission.
